Dearest *|MMERGE5|*, It seems just yesterday you were in pursuit of a/an/many *|MMERGE6|* candybar/bag of candy/something not candy for probably weird reasons. Unless you were a cat named Blue Howler, you have been lamenting your choices for the past year. LAMENT NO MORE! For JQMCBP is back again, and this time it's for all the candy. Well it's always for all the candy. We at the Johnny Quest Memorial Candy Bar Pool and Synchronized Swimming and Diving and Marco Polo Center Headquarters are thilled to announce the immediate opening of JQMCBP XXIX.
What are you waiting for? ENTER! The tournament starts in earnest Thursday a.m., so get your picks in before then. The prize is, same as it ever was, a candybar of your choosing. You know it's more than that, though. A whole lot more. REJOICE AND REVEL IN THIS, THE WEIRDEST THING YOU WILL INVEST EFFORT IN ALL YEAR. And I say that knowing full well how weird some of you are.
https://benklaas.com/jqmcbp/Please let literally everyone you know about this exciting competition. Send them the link. It's fun! It's free! It's inexplicable! Do it. C'mon. DO IT. Everybody's doing it.
https://benklaas.com/jqmcbp/Not sure why you're still reading this, but the Oscars also just started. Let me give you some picks over there:
Best Picture: everyone is debating between Sinners and One Battle After Another. I'm going to go with the sleeper pick and say F1 The Movie. Never before has a Best Picture nominee been both a gripping action movie and a long informercial for a professional sports(washing) league. Amazing.
Best Actor: A lot are saying Michael B Jordan, others think DiCaprio, but I'm going to go with a longshot and say that a write-in campaign wins it for Brad Pitt in F1 the Movie. He's just amazing. And so handsome!
Best Actress: Okay, there's an Irish actress that plays across from Brad Pitt in F1 The Movie, but seriously how can you compete with the charismatic glow of Brad Pitt as Sonny Hayes, veteran driver with a traumatic past that's just looking for one last trophy? You should probably just go with Jessie Buckley in Hamnet
But seriously, how was F1 the Movie nominated for Best Picture. It makes. no. sense.
cheers,
