Hole 18
Index Hole Number 18, par 5, 509 yards. Called the greatest finishing hole in golf, this is truly a beautiful hole. The fairways curves in a long arc around a shoreline that has a part natural and part artificial sea wall that varies from 10 to 25 feet in height above the water. As we waited for the group ahead of us (again!), we saw sea otters playing in the water, a pair of Canada geese with a brood of young goslings strolled across the fairway, and a mule deer quietly grazed along the right rough. The sea wall has been extended out over the ocean to make it more of a challenge to hit a drive left. A single lone pine sits in the right center of the fairway. The wind was blowing towards us.

Erv sent his drive down the right side of the fairway just beyond the pine tree and into the right rough. He topped a 3-wood out of the rough and it barely went 100 yards to the edge of the fairway. A 5-iron was used to lay up about 60 yards from the green. A sand wedge to the green and a long 30 foot side hill putt gave him a par 5.

Ben hit a driver down the left side flirting with the ocean and rocky shore but it landed safely in the rough just outside of the hazzard. He then hit a 5-iron closer to the green but still in the left rough. He followed with an 8-iron to the left fringe of the green from where he 2-putted for a par.
