Hole 8
Index Hole Number 8, par 4, 369 yards. The fairway is bisected by a steep cliff that plunges straight down into the ocean. The cliff and the ocean is out of sight of the tee. A drive from the white tee cannot exceed 170 yards down the middle. A longer drive left ends up in deep rough. A drive anywhere right of the fairway ends up in the ocean.

Erv was distracted by a long wait by slow players in front of us, so he wandered off and took pictures of hole No. 7. When he returned to the tee he absent mindedly hit a driver off the tee, straight down the middle of the fairway. The ball bounced once and disappeared over the unseen cliff in front of us for a 1-stroke penalty. After a drop at the edge of the cliff he hit his third shot 185 yards across the inlet pin high but 15 yards to the left of the green in deep rough. It took took chip shots with a wedge to get on the green and 2 putts for another triple bogey 7.

Ben remembered the hole's layout and hit a 3-iron down the right side of the fairway that ran into the short rough just a foot or two from the 200-yard marker. He hit another 3-iron to just short of the green and chipped on with a sand wedge. He took 2 putts for a bogey 5.
